Alright Champs fans, rise up!  Did you know our very own white man of the year, Ryan Scott Graham (the bassist/back up vocalist of State Champs) releases his own music and has been since 2015?

In case you missed it, Speak Low is an indie rock group that is fully fronted by Graham. It is described by Graham himself as starting as an acoustic singer-songwriter project, but quickly adapting into a full indie rock band, giving a Death Cab for Cutie vibe (if you’re a fan of that band). While Graham does play bass for State Champs, he cites in an ‘Echoes Of Oddities’ interview that he really loves playing guitar, as it’s his first love.

If you’re a fan of acoustic and/or indie rock with deep cut poetic lyrics, I highly encourage doing a deep dive into the project’s albums like Nearsighted (my personal favorite is “Contrasting Colors”) and the other singles/ep’s released.

Recently, Speak Low has dropped 23 new tracks, such as ‘Birds Eye View’ and ‘One Good Look’, my playlists tend to shift every season and in spring I tend to favor that acoustic rock vibe, so I instantly added both to my spring playlist. My personal favorite of the two is ‘One Good Look’ – speaking to the hardships that can come with maintaining a serious relationship very beautifully. ‘Birds Eye View’ the most recently single to be released, communicates an anxiety of self but being able to remain vulnerable with and try, despite anxieties (which also hits home for this writer).

In addition to releasing those two new tracks, Speak Low has also dropped pre-orders for some beautiful 7’ vinyls.

Let us know if you’ve listened to Speak Low, and which songs are your favorites. If you’ve never checked out Speak Low, again Spring is the best time to lay in a grassy field, play some gut wrenching indie acoustic style music, and maybe try not to sneeze too bad from how bad the pollen has been. 🙂
