When it rains, it pours.
Day Three of Riot Fest saw gates open late, Douglass Park turn to mud and set times get changed or cancelled. One victim of the weather was the alt-pop punk duo Daisy Grenade. Originally set to take to the Roots Stage at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, the duo spent most of the day on social media asking witches to work miracles and keeping their fans updated.
When it became official that Daisy Grenade was cut, they made a post announcing that but added “music would be played tonight.”
Soon, it was announced that Daisy Grenade was performing a free show at Bottom Lounge alongside Remember Sports, the band that was set to open the Roots Stage on Sunday.
With doors opening at 10 p.m. and the show beginning with Remember Sports at 11 p.m., music was indeed played.
Remember Sports, an indie rock band out of Philadelphia, played a 30-minute set that should’ve been performed nearly 11 hours earlier. The band was clearly exhausted from the day, with the guitarist apparently traveling early morning to make it to Riot Fest just for the weather the dampen things. Still, Remember Sports played an energetic set to an equally exhausted but enthusiastic crowd.

Daisy Grenade took the stage at 11:45 p.m. and performed a 13-song set created just for the last-minute show. The duo of Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker brought a lot of excitement and energy to the stage, but the last-minute nature of it all saw Whittaker forgetting which songs would be performed next at least once, joking that she can’t see.
The duo played favorites like “Emily,” “How To Hide A Body” and “Hypocrite.” As most bands do, Daisy Grenade did the little encore fake out before ending the set with “Riot.”
Because the set was originally meant to be a bit shorter earlier in the day at Riot Fest, family and friends had traveled to see Daisy Grenade perform. Whittaker invited her father on stage as both her and Nigro sang and celebrated his birthday.
In many ways, the rain and cold but a damper on an otherwise stellar Riot Fest weekend, but Daisy Grenade showed they can roll with the punches and still make it a great night.
