A new era of Gavin Prophet has begun, as the independent artist dropped his most recent single ‘Victim Of The Nation/V.O.T.N.’ while beginning his first tour.
Needless to say, this Prophet stays busy.
ICYMI: I had the opportunity to sit down with Gavin Prophet earlier this year.
In regards to the new single, I’ve been highly anticipating it since he started teasing it a couple weeks back. In fact, I found myself singing “dropping bombs in foreign nations” to myself (a lyric from the song) in places that perhaps warranted me some concerned looks.
The single maintains the pop-punk edge Prophet is known to bring, similar to his Radical record released in January this year. However, this song has a harder edge to it, as Prophet brings in a breakdown delivering screams that remind me of Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember.
Speaking to current events in foreign nations, and how frustrating it can be to be in a nation causing such violence in every regard, the strong and blunt tone of the lyrics are met perfectly in this punk track. The breakdown almost feels like a scream of frustration we can all relate to.
Prophet is currently on his first independent ‘Radical Tour’ which focuses on the West Coast currently. For more information on Gavin Prophet, click here.
I personally am not sure if this new era of Prophet will be in fact heavier as hinted by this single, but if it is I am so genuinely excited to scream alongside some heavy breakdowns.
