Welcome to 2026, where recession music indicators are going crazy along with soaring gas prices, and now The Cab dropping new music – it truly feels like 2008 all over again (in a ‘I want to party but also cry at the same time kinda way’).

With the resurgence of 2016 iconography many online saying 2026 is the new 2016, I must say this new single from The Cab sounds like it crawled out of the 2010’s grave in the best way possible. Musically, it reminds me of a combination of Hot Chelle Rae and All Star Weekend with some pretty emo coded lyrics. Even going so far as to say in the song “left me emo so depressed”  to fun, upbeat music that I will absolutely be adding to my summer playlist.

They’re releasing a new album titled Chasing Crowns dropping April 24. From the album so far, we have songs available like “Locked and Loaded,” “Pain,” “Every Little Lie,” “Rollercoaster” and “Stay This Way Forever.”

Listening to every song released thus far, I get so many different hints of 2000’s eras, the overarching vibe reads as fun dancefloor music or perfect for a windows down summer drive.

The entire album seems to be a good time musically while the lyrics speak to betrayal, heartbreak, and experiencing change in all aspects. A musically fun album that has some heavy lyrics? Sign me up, The Cab has my number on this one.

You can stay up to date on the album and more by following the band on their socials. I have a very strong feeling this entire record will be on my Sad Girl Summer playlist, and I am so pumped about it.
