[dropcap]P[/dropcap]reseason means a lot to these young athletes. All summer long, they work hard to get this far. Now, it’s time for them to prove they belong here.
It’s like the old saying goes: “It’s time to separate the boys from the men.” Basically, who wants it more and who’s willing to go that extra mile to impress these coaches.
Well, I’m going to break it down for you.
Ameer Abdullah
This is what Joe Lombardi had to say about him:
“You know, the style that we are looking for is one that can gain yards on the ground and one that can catch the ball when we throw it to them and run with it. He can do both. He also is a guy that will stick his nose in there in terms of pass protection, but he has a lot of ability, which you can see. Quick guy, but we’re excited to get an opportunity to kind of see him against guys in this league other than the guys we practice against, so this should be fun coming up Thursday.”
He’s an all-round back for sure, but is he ready for the pros? Yes. I believe he will get the opportunity to show the Lions he could be a three down back but it won’t be easy with Bell ready to prove he’s ready to carry the load for the Detroit Lions like he did for most of last season. If he could stay healthy it could one great battle for number one.
