A convention has been planned for Hello Kitty and is being kicked off by the legend herself in honor of her 40th anniversary.

Sanrio Inc., Hello Kitty’s parent company, will help to spread the beloved pop icon’s message of happiness by presenting the Hello Kitty fan convention in partnership with Target.

The convention will take place at The Geffen Contemporary in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles, where fans will be able to enjoy a full lineup of Hello Kitty-themed activities, including a “Hello Kitty Super Supermarket,” a Hello Kitty vintage shop selling collectibles of the icon from the past, integrated workshops, lectures and panel discussions, a tattoo shop, an arcade, art installations and photo opportunities, just to name a few.

Convention attendees will also be given sneak peeks into upcoming projects and partnerships, along with being able to find limited edition, convention-only products at the official “Hello Kitty Con 2014”pop-up shop. Target will also offer special Hello Kitty 40th Anniversary products available at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com beginning September 14.

“Hello Kitty Con 2014” will coincide with Hello Kitty’s official birthday on November 1, and will run from October 30 until November 2. A limited number of tickets are now available now at Sanrio.com.
