[dropcap]S[/dropcap]o the incredible wave of mobile gaming has swept tablets and smartphones like wildfire int he past couple of years. And they are repetitive addictive titles that can entertain you for a couple of minutes to even a couple hours. Something to pass the time with when you’re sitting in a lobby or waiting in line. The thing that kills me is micro-transactions. The simple yet easy way to make millions of unsuspecting people.

Want that special suit of armor, a dollar! Want to play for 15 more minutes, 5 dollars! Want to get a weapon that will toast any foe around you for your next 4 levels, 10 dollars! It’s amazing what people pay and spend on these mobile games and in the end probably spend more time and money on them than normal triple A titles.

A Nintendo investor named Seth Fischer, manager of Oasis Management, said he would like to see Mario, Donkey Kong, and Legend of Zelda come to mobile gaming. The first thing I think about is my SNES emulator, but I digress, sure $2.99 or $4.99 classic Zelda, Mario, or Metroid. I can dig it. Just won’t buy a Monster to drink that day, no harm no foul. Unfortunately he brings up this nonsense about paying $0.99 to have Mario jump higher…?

Now Nintendo has stated in the past that they don’t want to bring Mario or the other big name Nintendo games to smartphones and definitely not the free-to-play platform. But with Fischer’s mindset on micro-transactions this could be something they could consider. Especially since the stocks aren’t looking so well for Nintendo. They need something to pull them out of their downhill spiral.

Just let me say something Nintendo, do not listen to this idiot! You want to redeem yourself in the gaming community and rebuild your empire. Stay away from this guy. If we have to pay to make Mario jump higher, pay to get a key to unlock a chest in Zelda, or pay to have extra lives in Metroid. No, I will consider that the nail in the Nintendo coffin. You have exactly what you need to make yourself strive. Keep making games, make them good, and listen to your fans. If you were whipping out Legend of Zelda’s every two years instead of Mario, I bet you’d see an increase in want or demand.

Micro-transactions are the devil and companies should really stay away from them. If that’s all you can see to help make yourself survive then you need to do something better. Step up your game Nintendo! You were the chosen ones back in the day. Reclaim your gauntlet.  Luckily Fischer is just an investor, nothing more, so let’s hope Nintendo doesn’t take his ideas into good consideration and just throws them to the trash bin.
