Opening with their massive single Breakers off their sophomore LP Hummingbird, lead singer Rice managed to grab the attention of the crowd with in your face, Class A vocals. Drummer Matt Frazier and percussionist Kelcey Ayer supported with upbeat but minor keyed beats and synths.

The band ended their intro with the song Wide Eyes from their 2009 album Gorilla Manor. The song featured Ryan Hahn’s ear tingling high-pitched strums and Frazier and Ayer’s clicky-clacky beats.

Sixth in their set, Ayer managed to woo the crowd with his soothing vocals in You & I. The band managed to demonstrate their knowledge of musical depth and range with their song Shape Shifter. Filled with pumping beats from the bands percussive nature, it made the crowd’s heart pump.

Between a couple songs, lead singer Rice told a very special story about his last time in Detroit. While walking down a street a “huge guy screaming” approached him on the street. Somehow, they ended up playing a slap game.

The band Wild Nothing opened for Local Natives.
