[dropcap]R[/dropcap]ock On The Range was almost a bust for the guys in Starset. Just as they were set to take the stage, thunder and lightning rolled into the Columbus area, putting the festival in its first ever rain delay.
To make matters worse, I had to run off to shoot another set before Starset did take the stage. But that didn’t dampen the fun we had during our interview later that day.
Starset spoke with The Pit about the story behind their music and what it was like playing their set despite the troubling weather in the area. The guys joked and had a lot of fun.
Luckily for us here at The Pit, we were hooked up with passes for Tuesday’s show in Flint with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. Starset’s set is unique, as the band were all wearing space suits and helmets, while Dustin Bates — vocalist — wore what appeared to be formal wear.
A standout feature of their set is the emulator, which appears to be a futuristic version of a tablet. Dustin uses it as part of the stage performance; simply by touching it, the emulator will react with music, lights and more.
Check out photos from their performance at Tuesday at The Whiting in Flint below and make sure to listen to The Music Blitz on either iTunes or Stitcher Radio. Also, be sure to support The Pit by visiting audibletrial.com/thepit and sign up for a FREE 30-day trial and a FREE audiobook.
