Aidan Chiles and Joseph Himon II fueled a dominant performance Saturday as Northwestern beat Colorado, 41-7, at the Lakefront.
The Wildcats (2-0, 0-0 B1G) raced out to a 21-0 lead after the first half, with the Buffaloes (2-1, 0-0 XII) scoring first to open the second half before going silent again. Northwestern gained 423 yards of total offense while holding Colorado to 348.
Chiles finished the game 17-for-22 for 241 yards and three scores, all to Himon. Chiles also finished with a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Himon’s three touchdown receptions were also his only receptions on the day, good for 46 yards. He had just 28 yards on four carries.
Northwestern capitalized off of turnovers, having forced four in total and turning those into points. Braden Turner and Ore Adeyi each picked off Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis, while Robert Fitzgerald and Braydon Brus recovered fumbles.
Jackson Kleather kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter, sealing away the Northwestern victory.
Northwestern will travel Friday to Bloomington, Ind., for a matchup against the fourth-ranked team in the country and defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers.
