Sonic Temple announcements begin Thursday

Who is one of the "most requested artists of all time" for the festival?
Who is one of the "most requested acts of all time" that will be announced as a Sonic Temple headliner on Thursday? (Nathan Zucker/Danny Wimmer Presents)

Alright ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, its about that time again for Sonic Temple Arts and Music Festival to drop their line-up.

There is a catch, however, as they will be doing things differently this year.

Danny Wimmer Presents have announced that this Thursday, tomorrow, they will be dropping the main headliner and two direct supporting acts in the early morning hours (according to their email, around 7am EST). Once they do this, they will be releasing artists each day through their social media outlets. Below, I will go over my thoughts on who it could be and maybe some other artists they will announce.

Let’s start off with this: they have specifically said that the main headliner is “one of the most requested artists of all time,” and one that has never played Sonic and formally, Rock on the Range.

I read through a lot of comments throughout the year both before the fest and immediately after its conclusion. Two of the bands I have seen mentioned the most are Iron Maiden and AC/DC. I’m leaning more toward Iron Maiden between the two. There have also been mentions of Nine Inch Nails and Pearl Jam. All four of these bands have never played and some I would consider to be some heavy hitters.

They also said that two of the direct supports will be announced Thursday and are “two of the biggest names in rock and metal.”

With Linkin Park returning with a new vocalist and expected to announce a tour, I can see them being one of those names. Metallica is also rumored to be making some sort of announcement tomorrow for more tour dates, so I can see them being another name. I have also discussed this with colleagues of mine and other names we threw out there are Green Day and Blink-182.

This is all my opinion and obviously we won’t know anything until the official announcement tomorrow morning. I will end this with a list of bands I think may be on the line up and some I hope are.
