I’ve Got A Phelan: Week 8 The Triumphant Return

The long awaited return of the I’ve Got A Phelan sports book guy has arrived.

It is so great to be writing for y’all again. For those who have missed me, blame my editor/publisher  and his desire to take his family to Paris.

How dare he be a good guy. Maybe he choked on a snail.

Anyways let’s get into the nitty gritty of the Week 8 NCAA and NFL action.  It’s a loaded slate of matchups this Halloween weekend. Let’s try and call which big name teams get spooked and fall to and underdog and which teams continue to dig their own grave.

UPSETS OF THE WEEK

NFL Prediction

Denver Broncos (+270) over the Kansas City Chiefs (-325): They say it’s hard to beat a team twice in one year, especially when you just have a one week break between playing them. Sean Peyton at this point is starting to feel his seat get a little warm and needs to show the potential this team has. What better way then knocking of the long time division bully. Mile High has a distinct advantage as well. I expect KC to be over confident in this one and try and start out fast. Eventually gassing out in time for Denver to comeback and steal one.

NCAA Upset Of The Week

Kansas (+275) over Oklahoma (-330): OU showed a lot of holes last week against UCF and I can see them overlooking KU with Daniels out. However while I expect the NFL KC team to falter I expect KU to flourish. They have two electric RB’s. Bean at QB is very explosive still and takes the chances an underdog needs to pull off a win. OU is going to have to play much better than they did last week if they wanna get out of Lawerence with a W. This is a slug fest in the making.

NFL Money Line

Jaguars (-132) over the Steelers (+112): Both tough squads and it’s hard to bet against TJ Watt, but Jacksonville has shown a knack for winning games we haven’t seen in a long time. They don’t even have to be in the US to do so. Lawerence continues to progress and that defense can just be straight nasty. The Steelers offense still isn’t a championship level to me and I think they have a hard time getting going this week. Pittsburg may be a tough crowd to play against,  but if any team is immune to home field advantage it’s these Jacksonville boys.

NCAA Money Line

Kentucky (+155) over Tennessee (-175): After two straight loses Kentucky 5-0 start seems like a distant memory. This week they reclaim their status as a team to be feared. Not by dressing up in scary costumes, but by playing like wild men or cats in this case. They are hungry and have a chip on their shoulder. Tennessee looked uninspired against Bama and if you can’t get hyped for that game then a losing streak is looming.

NFL Spread

New England Patriots (+9 1/2 at -109) over the Miami Dolphins (-9 1/2 at -111): The Patriots pulled off the upset of the week last week against the Bills and the Dolphins looked mortal against the Eagles. Two teams who’s momentum took drastically different shifts continue the pattern this week. Old man Bill is giving all tricks and no treats in a creative game plan to spear the dolphins and leave them flopping in defeat.

NCAA Prediction

Oregon (-6 1/2 at -113) over Utah (+6 1/2 at -107): It’s time for another statement win by the fucks and it happens this week against a very good Utah team. Oregon is looking to earn the right to be a CFP team and a blow out here will go a long ways in getting them there. This offense is and will remain ELITE. The defense will have a big test with a Utah offense that has found a groove. In the end I don’t think Utah can play a full 60 against the Ducks and they pull away in the second half.

Wolverine Winner

Michigan smokes the bye week and get back to dominating next week.

It was great to get back to writing for y’all. It’s a passion for me and I hope I can earn you some extra cash to go for the full sized bars this Halloween. Enjoy the weekend. Stay safe. Become the favorite house on the block. I’ve Got A Phelan these picks won’t come back to haunt us. Thank you all again for the read. Until next week. Farewell and good luck!
