Hardcore band Knocked Loose has been on tour this spring with Terror, Jesus Piece and Year of the Knife. Each one of these bands is notorious for drawing a heavy crowd. This bill was no exception, The Magic Stick in Detroit, MI was torn apart during the show.

Knocked Loose has quickly risen in popularity after the release of their 2016 album Laugh Tracks. The band packed venues when on support of Stick to Your Guns, and again on tour with Every Time I Die. After a summer of crowds swarming their stage at Vans Warped Tour, it was time for a headliner.

Grand Rapids band Detain (not pictured) opened the show. The band released their EP Capital Punishment in 2017, that showcased their 90’s influenced hardcore sound.

Year of the Knife (not pictured) followed suit, immediately opening a pit in the crowd. The band’s energy on stage fed into the crowd’s, welcoming stage divers to join them.

Jesus Piece had one of the heaviest sets of the evening. The band opened with “Greed” off of their 2016 EP, 3 Song Tape. Vocalist Aaron Heard was a storm on stage, his vocals tearing through the downtempo instrumentals. In addition to a couple new songs, the band included “Conjure Life” and “Oppressor” in their set.

LA hardcore band Terror opened with “Keep Your Mouth Shut” off of their 2014 album, One with the Underdogs. Vocalist Scott Vogel encouraged the crowd to get rowdy, but reminded them to help the ones who fall, and not to end up fighting one another, a common instance in the hardcore scene.

The band included “Live by the Code” off of their 2013 album. During “One with the Underdogs” Vogel’s mic was stolen not once, but twice from stage divers, showing fans dedication as they sang every word. They closed their set with 2010 song “Keepers of the Faith”.

The crowd was full of energy as Knocked Loose finally took the stage. For a surprise, they opened with a new, unreleased song. Vocalist Bryan Garris was all business on stage, as the band broke into “Separate” and “Billy No Mates”.

The crowd was beyond intense, arms were swinging and there was a continuous stream of stage divers flying off the stage. One of the largest pits of the night broke out during “The Gospel”.

Knocked Loose played their iconic song “Counting Worms”, where everyone in the venue screaming along to the line “arf arf”. After “Deadringer”, the band closed with “All My Friends” leaving the pit in utter chaos.

The tour wraps up this weekend, but you can catch Knocked Loose on select dates of Vans Warped Tour this summer. Follow the band on Twitter for more updates!
