[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Pit has received its ballot for the 2014 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, awarded to the top coach as chosen by members of the Football Writers Association of America.

Monday, the eight finalists were released along with the ballot. The eight names are:

  • Art Briles – Baylor
  • Jumbo Fisher – Florida State
  • Bryan Harsin – Boise State
  • Justin Fuente – Memphis
  • Mark Helfrich – Oregon
  • Urban Meyer – Ohio State
  • Gary Patterson – TCU
  • Nick Saban – Alabama

Left of the ballot are some surprising names, such as Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen, Ole Miss’ Dan Freeze and Wisconsin’s Gary Andersen.
