Griffins Drop Pre Season Finale

The Grand Rapids drop their second and final preseason exhibition match to the Lake Erie Monsters....

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Grand Rapids Griffins loss their final preseason contest to the Lake Erie Monsters, 6-3, Saturday night.

It was a rough couple of days at the office for the Griffins, who dropped their contest to the Monsters 5-1 on Friday night. Grand Rapids outshot the Monsters by 20 in their second loss in as many days to Lake Erie. Monsters goalie Calvin Pickard stole the show, snagging 35 saves in the win.

Lake Erie took a 3-1 lead into the second period and that’s all that they needed. Grand Rapids collected goals from Martin Frk, Shane Bershbach, and Jared Coreau, but that wasnt enough for the Griffins, as they could never gain a lead in the contest.

The Griffins and the Monsters will play their first games of the season against each other on October 10th at Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena. Puck drops on the AHL season at 7pm.
