CNBC Primetime LogoJay Leno will not be returning to The Tonight Show — whatever rumors may persist — but the late-night vet will be coming back to television. In the spirit of colleague and former heir Conan O’Brien, Leno is coming to basic cable on CNBC.

Jay Leno’s Garage: The Ultimate Car Week, based on his Emmy-winning web series Jay Leno’s Garage, will premiere Sunday, August 31 at 10PM ET/PT. The show is a special, taking viewers into the heart of Monterey Week, America’s ultimate automotive event.

Legendary host and comedian Leno is one of the most prolific car collectors in America, and provides a unique perspective on cars and collecting, as a sport and a business. He will scout for vintage gems and get first looks at several new vehicles.

Jay will also pay a visit to Laguna Seca racetrack, where he shall be first to hit the gas on the new Corvette Z06. Festivities culminate once a year at Pebble Beach’s Concours d’Elegance, featuring over 200 of the world’s most prized collectibles.

Jay Leno’s Garage: The Ultimate Car Week is produced for CNBC by Open 4 Business Productions in association with Big Dog Productions (former producer of The Tonight Show). Jay Leno and Todd Mesirow are the executive producers.
