A vivid planet management experience game “The Universim,” is in the works from Cyptivo Games.

Company owner and founder Alexander Koshelkov calls his new video game a “unique and expansive gaming experience,” where players travel through both time and the universe, bringing together and impacting the destiny of civilizations.

“The ability to play as a god gives you unparalleled power, but unlike other god games, you cannot interact directly with your population,” explained Koshelkov in a press release. “You can, however, influence their decisions and change the way in which your civilization evolves.

“It is up to you to decide which technology path they follow and what kind of research they undertake. In this god game, you have the power to shape their future.”

A player’s “civilization” starts in the Stone Age and steadily progresses, advancing beyond the modern era before moving into the intergalactic exploration age.

With a similar evolutionary path to the human race, players will have tools and resources to shape their civilization’s progress.

Because of the complexities of themes, simulation, graphics, controls and software (as well as the high-quality visual experience), this indie gaming project has been costly for Koshelkov and his team. After spending many hours developing the concept, the aesthetics and some preliminary software, additional funds are needed.

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to earn the $320,000 necessary to make Universim a reality.  Thus far, about 7,000 gaming enthusiasts have donated, and pledges are near $184,000, showing how strong peoples’ interest is in the game.

Donations of any amount are accepted. Perks, including as beta access to the game, full DRM-free versions, rocket-shaped USB drives, T-shirts, posters and more, are available to donors of more than $20.

“As an indie manufacturer, we want to deliver a challenging and innovative gaming experience,” said Koshelkov. “The Universim is a game built by gamers with a budget supplied by gamers. It’s a formula for success.”
