The college football event was known as the Peach Bowl from1968-1996, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl from 1997-2005 and then the Chick-fil-A Bowl from 2006-2013. This arrangement comes with an old name, but a whole new logo. Chick-fil-A is the first company to announce their agreement with ESPN as sponsors of College Football Playoffs.

Chick-fil-A is a family owned and privately held restaurant company that got its start in 1946, when Truett Cathy opened the first restaurant in Hapeville, GA. Credited with the creation of the chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A was recognized in 2013 as one of the America’s “Most Inspiring Companies” by Forbes Magazine.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is the ninth-longest running bowl game in America with 46 years under its belt. The nationally ranked teams, as assigned by the College Football Playoff Section Committee, will compete in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl for 2014 and 2015. Then in 2016, the Bowl will host its first National Semifinal Game.

“This is a remarkable day in our history when we can all come together as partners to celebrate these milestones,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl president and CEO, in a press release.

For 17 years, Chick-fil-A has helped the Playoff bowl develop and expand with successive sellout games. The entire endeavor is a true victory for the city of Atlanta from the local economy to the tradition it provides for the residents, college football, and ESPN.

Starting with the Kickoff all the way to the final score, for every Playoff, bowl, and game Chick-fil-A’s dedication is evident with the continuous investment and partnership. It will be interesting to see what Chick-fil-A has to offer for us in the future, not only business wise, but for College Football in general.
