Lincoln Peirce and HarperCollins Children’s Books broke the Guinness World Record for having the ‘World’s Longest Cartoon Strip by a Team’ on Friday.
The comic strip was featured on The TODAY Show in New York City as a part of their week-long record breaking series. The comic spans 3,987 feet, two inches. It is longer than 11 football fields.
With the help of booksellers, educators and students from 100 schools in 30 states and 7 countries, HarperCollins was able to construct this comic strip, made up of 1,202 different panels. The comic is an adaptation from the first two Big Nate books, BIG NATE: IN CLASS BY HIMSELF and BIG NATE STRIKES AGAIN.

The record-breaking cartoon strip was part of the HarperCollins’ year-long campaign to celebrate the sixth book in the Big Nate series, BIG NATE: IN THE ZONE.
Big Nate is a popular series amongst young teens that now includes 16 books, all based on cartoonist Lincoln Pierce’s popular comic strip.
Since its launch, Big Nate has over six million books in print, 10 million views and counting on bignatebooks.com, 109 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List and 25 foreign language licenses.
The Big Nate novels are also available as e-books through the Apple iBooks Store, The Nook Book store and the Kindle Fire. Readers also have the option of downloading the app, BIG NATE: COMIX BY U! for a unique and interactive experience.
