Between the Buried and Me at The Intersection

Between the Buried and Me pulled out all the stops on their performance at the Intersections. Fans were literally jumping over the gate to get closer....

Before I start this off, I just wanted to mention how proud I am that I live in Grand Rapids. What do we have here?

The Intersection did it once again with booking Between the Buried and Me along with special guests: DeafHeaven, Intronaut, and The Kindred.

I was sort of skeptical when I heard about this show. Mainly because I’ve never seen any of the bands live before. It was a quite different experience to say the least.

The Intersection quickly packed full on Tuesday, March 4, with everyone in short sleeves and shorts ready to head bang and throw down. The two opening bands Intronaut and The Kindred killed it. I’ve personally never heard or listened to them before, but I was in awe. The Kindred had awesome stage presence, they defiantly got the crowd hyped.

Deafheaven was on the top of my list of bands to see within the next year, and boy was I in luck. These dudes rocked it. Vocalist, George came on the stage half way through their first song which happened to be Dream House from their 2013 album Sunbather. I fell in love with their instrumentals, the albums do no justice to their live performance.

Between the Buried and Me has been around since 2002, with their various albums:
The Silent Circus
Alaska
The Anatomy Of
Colors (and a few more)

I grew up listening to this band (my Dad taught me everything I know about music, specifically metal) and it’s been crazy seeing their sound develop over the years.

Between the Buried and Me pulled out all the stops on their performance. With white filler lights and an awesome lit up back drop they made everything visually appealing.

They opened with the song Foam Born (A) the Backtrack, with one single spotlight on vocalist Tommy while he played the piano for the whole crowd to admire. Then they broke into the rest of the set list, playing many songs from their newer albums and a few from the old. The crowd literally jumped over the gate just to get closer to the sound.

I was very skeptical in the beginning but The Intersection never lets me down, the stage presence was phenomenal and I would totally go to see these guys again.
