If you’re not familiar with the “We’re Alive – A story of survival” podcast yet, you are missing out. The podcast is essentially a zombie podcast that tells the story of a group of survivors trying to survive a zombie apocalypse as well as other survivors.

We're AliveFor all intent and purpose, this is a radio drama done through podcast.

Before one goes into thinking this is a ripoff of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” this podcast began in 2009, long before the zombies of AMC made it to television on Sunday nights.

Monday, August 26 marked the show’s return for their fourth, and final, season. Without giving away spoilers from past episodes, the story so far has had the main group of survivors get split up. Lizzy was kidnapped by the Mallers, Saul and Victor were left behind in the city of LA, while Michael and Riley made it to a military encampment north where they sent Pegs, Datu, Hope and Kelly off to Boulder, CO where a group of 150,000 survivors were guarded by US military forces.

Basically, shit goes awry. What could best be described as tank zombies from the video game Left 4 Dead take down a chopper and infiltrate Boulder, Michael’s superior uses a code to detonate a nuclear device hidden below the city 1,000 miles away. Survivors rush to the military camp, with hordes of undead tracking them.

In the midst of the chaos, Michael receives a call from a satellite phone in LA with Saul on the other end, but unable to communicate. Saul, Victor and CJ help drive the Mallers out of a colony of survivors and rescue Lizzy in the process.

Eventually, Michael and his group from Boulder travel back to the city to find Saul and his group at the colony.

Season three ended with Michael sick of running from zombies, just to have everything fail because of either the dead or Mallers. He decides it is time to fight.

And this is where season four picks up… Chapter 37: A Balance of Power; part one of three.

Michael brought with him a group of soldiers along with a military helicopter, something they use to their advantage. Michael instructs the people of the colony to start strengthening the walls, as they were damaged from the battle that took place before.

Saul takes Michael to a makeshift hospital so they can get their friend, ex-Marine Burt, some medical treatment, as he was tortured by the Mallers. He and Michael both fell asleep in a room that was filled with injured people.

One of those victims was bitten, which led to Tanya taking a human way of ending her life via injection.

But CJ’s screaming was unbearable for those in the hospital. She had been injured previously by the Maller named Scratch, who sliced her leg wide open with a knife while CJ was trying to save Burt.

The wound destroyed her muscles in the leg. Despite the use of drugs, Tanya tells Saul and Michael that it is too late. Either CJ will need her leg amputated or she will slowly and painfully die.

And this is where this week’s story ended. new episodes are released every Monday, with two weeks between each new chapter. Visit “We’re Alive” on Monday to listen to part two of ‘Balance of Power.’
