LucasArtsWednesday, Disney announced that they would be closing down the LucasArts studio as part of their overhaul of the Star Wars franchise. Disney purchased the franchise for over $4 billion dollars from LucasFilms on October 31, 2012.

LucasArts has been in existence since 1982, and is responsible for many of the memorable Star Wars games through the years.

Disney said that they would be licensing Star Wars to outside companies to develop future games. This news virtually leaves the rumored Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: Assault games all but dead in the water. There has been rumor that these games are now either postponed or canceled all together.

Following their purchase, Disney cancelled both the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated cartoon on Cartoon Network as well as the Star Wars: Detours project.
