With a year that has been hit so hard with the losses of great musicians and actors, the death of Prince is sure to be a hard to hit to all music genres alike.
Prince Rogers Nelson, aka Prince, aka The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, was found dead this morning at his Paisley Park compound. He was 57 years old.
Prince has been in the music scene for decades and his defiance of any single genre made him an innovator in the industry. The multi-talented, multi-instrumental, actor, singer, songwriter, producer, was known for his eclectic style and incredible vocal range, and was a true icon in the scene.
His recent scare with illness and an emergency airplane landing in Illinois did not stop the phenom from hosting a party for his fans at the usually secluded studio. He did not perform for the crowd, but he gave a speech and was last known to say to his fans; “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”
The haunting words will forever linger in the attendees’ minds and the sense that he (Prince) knew of the impending death.
Reports say that a person was found unresponsive at the Minnesota home and was later declared dead. His name was not released for confirmation until next of kin was notified.
