89X brought a strong game with the 3rd annual Chill on the Hill

The 3rd annual Chill on the Hill kicks off in high gear with fans lined up early eager to grab the best spot to see their favorite artists....

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ud Light and 89X Radio brought back their annual Chill on the Hill event to Freedom Hill Amphitheater with a solid lineup for both days. I will break down each day for you with some high points.

Day 1: The name of the event speaks for itself in day one. The typical bi-polar weather that Michigan is well known for was felt here. A very windy and cool end of summer day did not stop fans from flocking in to see some major artists, including second stage acts Beartooth, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Michigan natives We Came as Romans.

Those artists are just a few of the warm up acts for what was featured on the main stage, including Andrew McMahon, Panic! At the Disco, and headliners Weezer. Day 1 was definitely filled with the heavy hitters and the fans showed it throughout the entire day, despite being a tad chilly. Fans were also treated with a silent disco. This was a first time deal for the festival and I have to say, it was a huge success. With the likes of three DJ’s, including 89X’s own “The Dope Show” it was a big surprise to all when there was a long lineup to get in.

Day 2: With a break in the weather, day two brought a more comfortable environment for fans. While still on the cool side, the sun was still shining as fans piled in for the second day of the festival.

Getting things started on the Park second stage, were 89X’s battle of the bands winners Five Hundredth Year, where they were not let down with the tremendous support and energy the early going fans put out. Immediately after them was another Michigan native band, Kaleido, who never lets their hometown fans down. Finishing off the Park stage were X Ambassadors, who had the largest crowd of the weekend for the second stage acts. Looking out, you really could not see any open space.

Hitting the main stage were Robert Delong, who also had a silent disco set, Jr. Jr., Cold War Kids, Coheed and Cambria and finishing off the weekend strong was Cage the Elephant. There is no question that the main stage acts brought it to the house with high energy and embracing sets. I know I will be looking forward for next years event and to see what new features 89X can bring to continue entertaining fans and making it a fun experience for those young and older fans.
