Awaken The Empire - Aurora[dropcap]I[/dropcap]s it possible to listen to an entire album and not think that you’re listening to one long, 30-40 minute song? The answer is yes. After listening to “Aurora,” the first full length LP from Awaken the Empire, which drops July 24th this year, I was extremely impressed.

They start off the album strong with “Insomniacs Unite,” which you can also check out the music video for. This song drew me into the album right away with the unique sound of lead vocalist Damien Lawson. Each song has its own character to it. I never felt like I was listening to the same thing on repeat. It was even nice to hear them slow things down a little bit with “A Tribute To Rome.”

This is definitely one to check out for those fans of Evanescence and Nothing More. It brings in some new character into the hard rock world. The only downfall to me, and what I am constantly seeing in artists today, is the lack of guitar solos. Yes, I understand not every band wants to have solos but being able to provide that little extra boost into an already great product, will make it stand out that much more and make fans more appreciative of the quality.

You can catch Awaken the Empire on tour with 10 Years, Nonpoint and The Family Ruin through July and August.
