For the first time ever, I have decided to join (and run) a fantasy baseball league this year. It is a small six person league with some of my closest friends from college and the military.

We held our draft on February 24, well over a full month before the MLB season Opening Day even begins. But this is something that I have noticed in the league: Some owners seem hitting heavy while others, pitching.

Two of us, my buddy Will and myself, seem to have a pretty sound rotation all around. For starting pitching, I picked up Matt Cain and Cliff Lee, two very sound pitchers. Jon Lester from Boston was also drafted as he looks to rebound (finally) this season. A risk was taken with a odd draft of Brian Wilson. He is not currently signed to a major league club, but if he is picked up by Opening Day, he is a MAJOR pitcher to have on any roster. Not to mention by the time he came up on the draft, I was just about done.

As far as hitting goes, I came out of the gates with Prince Fielder, Jose Bautista, Jose Reyes, Evan Longoria and Justin Upton; among many. While this rotation not be the strongest, it is the most sound.

Our league is balanced between pitchers and hitters, making it so both play MAJOR roles in the outcome of the week’s matchups.

I will not go into the total draft results, though if any readers want to know what the full results are I would share.

Out of curiosity, in your fantasy baseball leagues (if they are set up like our league) what do you favor more, hitting or pitching? Comment below.
