The entertainers came out Saturday night at Faster Horses.
The boys dominated the main stage for Day Two of the festival, ones of all ages, new stars and established. Jason Aldean, in the middle of his We Were Here Tour, unleashed his first single “Lights Come On” from “They Don’t Know” — his upcoming seventh LP — and played all the hits under the lights. You could probably hear the crowd sing “She’s Country” along with him all the way way in Nashville.
There was Gary Allan, with his rugged voice that’s topped the charts for two full decades that entertained prior to Aldean, and Travis Tritt before him. David Nail closed out his set strong, including one his latest with “Night’s on Fire.” And it was one of the young guns, A Thousand Horses, who were one of the highlights of the entire second day.
He evokes some pretty divisive reactions, but there’s a Kid Rock-esque sound to Horses lead singer Michael Hobby’s pipes when produces a certain tone and utilizes his vibrato. Regardless, it’s all compliments to his and their sound, and the harmonica interspersed blends seamlessly to it. They’ve got all the makings of a radio-friendly act that should be around for the long haul, and in the meantime, they were certainly worth some part of the price of admission.
