“As long as I’m here, we’re gonna play you,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo told Oakland’s Greg Kampe after Saturday’s game.
Despite Michigan State winning 79-70, Izzo sang the praises of Kampe and his Golden Grizzlies squad, believing that one of these years Oakland would topple the Spartans.
“Even though I think I’m insane, because it’s gonna happen, but I have a lot of respect for you, your program, and the people down here,” said Izzo. “I’ve got a lot of respect for Detroit. There’s some great things happening here.”
