Following the conclusion to Michigan’s national championship victory over Washington, 34-13, on Monday, quarterback JJ McCarthy was spotted sprinting across the field to celebrate with his girlfriend Katya Kuropas.
McCarthy helped lead the Wolverines to its first national championship since 1997 and first outright title since 1948. In the game, he finished 10-0f-18 for 140 yards through the air and 31 yards on four attempts on the ground. Michigan was just 1-of-10 in third down conversions, with the lone positive coming off a 22 yard rush from McCarthy with 3:39 remaining in the third quarter.
“It takes a lot more than just being a football player to be a Michigan man,” McCarthy said after the game. “Everything that — the rigorous school schedule, the rigorous football schedule, it just forges us into these Michigan men.”
