Fall Out Boy opened their So Much for (Tour)dust run in their hometown, with a sold out show full of love, community and nostalgia from the band and fans.
From deep cuts never played before, that drew cheers and online gratitude from seasoned listeners, to more recent hits and songs released this year, the band fit a lot of fun into two hours.
Discussing making it big and performing at Wrigley, Pete describes the stadium as “a magical place, to me growing up this place was a f****** cathedral.”
The band opened with a small voice track from their new album, followed by Love From the Other Side, a fitting track from their new album that reflects a lot on life post-pandemic. Next up was The Phoenix, followed by the song that kicked off their mainstream success, “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” from their third album.
Vivid, dreamy art filled the stage through the show, including a massive dog puppet based on the cover of “So Much For Stardust,” along with background scenes based around songs.
Fans were really excited to hear throwback hits like Saturday, Thnks Fr the Mmrs, Chicago is so Two Years Ago and the live debut of G.I.N.A.S.F.S.
Growing up, Fall Out Boy was a band I listened to a lot. Their first four albums were my favorites. I was wondering how many songs they’d play that I knew and happily surprised, found myself singing along for a majority of the 36-song set.
The night was a cozy comfort of nostalgia for me and countless fans who grew up listening to the band. I wish I would have seen them sooner, but the show reminded me of why I started loving alternative rock music, and made me even more excited to continue sharing the music I love with my daughter.
