Notre Dame released it’s 2016 men’s basketball schedule Monday, which includes a tough conference schedule and key non-conference match ups.
The Fighting Irish – the only NCAA Division I team to appear in back-to-back Elite Eights in the past two seasons – will begin the regular season November 12 against Bryant at Purcell Pavilion. Notre Dame will have two exhibition games at home against Mercy College (Nov. 1) and Catholic University (Nov. 7) before getting into normal action.
The Irish will face non-conference opponents such as Iowa, Purdue and Villanova. The team will begin ACC play December 31 at Pitt.
“This will be the most difficult schedule we have faced as a member of the ACC,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “It is the deepest league in the country and every team is capable of making a run in March. Our guys will need to be ready to face a challenge each time they take the court.”
The conference slate will feature Notre Dame hosting Clemson, Louisville, Virginia, Syracuse, Duke and more. Notre Dame will play Duke just once at home and North Carolina once on the road.
The regular season ends March 4 at Louisville for the Irish. The ACC Tournament will run March 7-11.
