Filter set to drop new album Crazy Eyes

Crazy Eyes is the brand new album from Filter set to hit store shelves on April 8th through wind-up records and it's one to listen to....

Filter_CrazyEyes_Cover_RGBDid you ever just sit back and listen to something and feel like you were going back in time? If not, then I will gladly admit to being one of those odd characters. I was able to give “Crazy Eyes,” the brand new album from Filter, which is set to hit store shelves on Friday, April 8th through Wind-up Records.

Back in the good ole days of high school, Filter was a huge band because they, like their current tour mates Orgy, were a newer style of rock that is unique and somewhat similar to Nine Inch Nails. I said above “back in time” because listening to Crazy Eyes, reminds me of how great and unique music truly can be, like it was when I was in high school.

“I’ve got nothing but rage to kill the pain.”

Opening up with, what is possibly the heaviest song this band has done, “Mother E,” truly highlights the powerful, raspy vocal range of front man and only original remaining member Richard Patrick. All throughout this album, you get the, almost hypnotic sound coming from the synth and his melodic tones. Each song can put you into a trance and keep you wanting more.

There is actually a slight change of pace with the song “Welcome To The Suck (Destiny Not Luck).” This song could be featured in one of those high action impact movie trailers because it gives off this dramatic, theatrical performance all throughout.

Normally I am not one to enjoy any rock or metal songs that push past the 4 minute mark, even Metallica songs can be drawn out at times, but with their longest song on Crazy Eyes “Under The Tongue,” I never felt this way. It’s a song that has build up. With a time of 6:11, you’ll want to keep listening in anticipation for a big impact and it does not disappoint. This was my favorite track off the entire album, and again, that’s saying a lot with the longer time. It’s full of catchy drum beats, more melodic background vocals, and synth before throwing you into an intense ending filled with upbeat drumming and guitar.

Overall, those old school Filter fans, the ones that have been with them since day 1, will not be disappointed by Crazy Eyes. And for new fans, if you enjoy Nine Inch Nails and Orgy, you will fall in love with this album. It stays true to who they are.

You can catch Filter on the “Make America Hate Again” tour with Orgy, Vampires Everywhere, and Death Valley High. Tour dates found in link. http://www.officialfilter.com/tour/
