[dropcap]S[/dropcap]cott Weiland – best known as the ex-frontman for 90’s rock group Stone Temple Pilots – has passed away at the age of 48. The news was broken on Weiland’s Facebook page by the tour manager for his new band, The Wildabouts.
Weiland passed away in his sleep Thursday on a tour bus in Minnesota. No reasons for his death have been released at this time and the tour manager has asked for the privacy of Weiland’s family to be respected.
The Wildabouts have experienced tragedy already this year, when guitarist Jeremy Brown passed away at the age of 34 following a mixture of drug combinations. Brown’s death occurred the day before the band’s debut album Blaster dropped.
Weiland has battled with addiction over the years, but after a rough show in Texas earlier this year that led many to thinking that he had fallen off the wagon, Weiland assured fans that he’s been clean for 13 years.
The Wildabouts played the festival circuit in 2015, including a memorable performance at Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of Weiland’s death have not been released at this time.
