Synopsis:

The Sylvan Elves have hidden themselves away from the world, jealously preserving their independence and sacred grounds. Anyone who dares enter their territory soon becomes their prey.

Eysine, City-State of the East, has always observed respect for the ancient laws between Elf and Man. And yet, when a powerful army of Ork mercenaries lay siege to the kingdom, Llali, the daughter of the King of the city, decides to remind the Elves of the treaty that previously linked their two peoples.

This tale is that of two races who have forgotten their shared past. It is also that of an Elf and a Human who carry with them the power to reawaken this bond.

Review:

Elves is a fantasy adventure that has all the right elements: action, suspense, and drama. The story has a consistent flow from the first issue and even though the story features a constant change perspectives the plot is smooth.

The colors and tones used in the artwork to bring the story to life fit the fantasy genre well and the landscapes transport the reader to a far-away distant world. The artwork also has some historical references. The ships that are used as a method of transportation are similar to the the style that the Vikings once used and the clothing has a medieval look and feel.

I think the writing in this series is fantastic and when your reading  the book you can tell the author put a lot of work into the process of creating each character giving them their own individual details and features as well as the world building process used to create the large universe the story takes place in.

At times throughout the story it will seem like there is a lot of new information thrown at the reader, but it never felt overwhelming or confusing.

I enjoyed the change up from the story of the blue elves to the sylvan (forest elves) in this issue and am curious to see how the two main characters journey will turn out.
