[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ources confirmed Monday that Notre Dame has suspended running back Greg Bryant for the first four games of the season.

Bryant – a 5-10, 205-pound junior from Delray Beach, Fl. – was suspended due to violations of team rules. The running back will not return to action for the Irish until the October 3 matchup at Clemson.

The suspension will include the season opener at Notre Dame Stadium against Texas [September 5], as well as games against Virginia, Georgia Tech and UMass. Bryant was expected to share backfield duties with Tarean Folston, but now – at least for the first four games of the season – that duty will go to C.J. Prosise.

In 2014, Bryant carried the ball 54 times for 289 yards and three touchdowns.
