[dropcap]D[/dropcap]ay One of Rock On The Range featured a variety of acts, ranging from newcomers on the rock scene to well-renowned acts in the metal world. With the exception of Slipknot, none were perhaps bigger – or better – than Marilyn Manson.

Making his return to Rock On The Range, Marilyn Manson was seemingly all smiles during his set – which featured numerous hits he’s had in his nearly 30 years of making music. Songs like “The Beautiful People,” “mOBSCENE” and “The Dope Show” were all played before a packed MAPFRE Stadium crowd.

Currently touring in support of The Pale Emperor, Marilyn Manson’s January 2015 release, this was Manson’s first appearance at Rock On The Range since 2012, in which he played in the same slot before Rob Zombie.

Manson and his band played just one song off The Pale Emperor, the lead single “Deep Six.” The song peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s Mainstreak Rock chart, the highest Manson has ever had on that chart.

“Deep Six” kicked off Manson’s set at Rock On The Range while they finished with “Irresponsible Hate Anthem.” The nine songs in between, as mentioned already, were packed with hits and crowd favorites, such as “Personal Jesus” – a Depeche Mode cover – and “Disposable Teens.”

Marilyn Manson at one point cut his hand open intentionally on stage with a broken beer bottle, adding shock value to a set that featured gray skies and dark themes. Overall, Manson was one of the better acts of the weekend.
