[dropcap]R[/dropcap]angers – the collective term for Rock On The Range festival goers – were taken aback Sunday as their souls were collected by September Mourning.

Wait, what?! Yes, you read that right.

September Mourning performed early during the final day of Rock On The Range, playing through a coming storm with a darkness and strength that left many breathless … and soulless.

The band – fronted by September and supported by her “reapers” – began as a cross-platform media project in 2009 with the idea as a comic book and a storyline. From that, the band spawned. The story behind September Mourning is that she’s a human-reaper hybrid. A reaper was sent to take her soul but instead of taking her soul, the reaper fell in love with her, sacrificed himself and gave September his powers.

September becomes the hybrid, but her humanity prevents her from taking souls. She wants to give people a second chance and the ability to make their own decisions and destinies. And from that back story, the plot of September Mourning leaps forward.

During Rock On The Range, September talked to The Pit about the overlapping story of September Mourning from comic book to band, as well as inspirations and plans moving forward.
