[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith Spring officially here (though the weather may have you thinking otherwise), that means the World’s Loudest Month — and what we like to call here at The Pit as Rock On The Range season — is just around the corner.
The Pit will begin a new weekly feature featuring photos from past Rock On The Range seasons to preview the 2015 edition of the annual music festival. This weekly feature will be called ROTR Throwback. Up first is possibly one of the best acts I have personally ever seen live:

Alice In Chains headlined the 2013 edition of Rock On The Range, an event I would call the best-to-date. For many fans in attendance (myself included), it was their first time seeing the 90’s rock icons with lead singer William DuVall after the passing of Layne Staley.
And the dude performed flawlessly, as did the band as a whole.
Rock On The Range in 2013 was my second time attending the festival, but my first venture in coverage for the event. Alice In Chains limited photographer access during their set to just a handful of selected outlets, and I was lucky enough to be afforded the opportunity. So for our first ROTR Throwback, I chose perhaps my favorite photo from the event. Bassist Mike Inez did this pose that just screams Rock N’ Roll, and while the whole band played with energy and passion, this photo exemplifies that.
In 2015, Rock On The Range will be headlined by Slipknot, Judas Priest and Linkin Park while the undercard features a slew of acts that are sure to provide for a weekend of sheer face-melting rock and metal. Rock On The Range will take place May 15-17 at MAPFRE Stadium, home of the Columbus Crew SC and the MLS.
