[dropcap]W[/dropcap]est Michigan Whitecaps and Eastern Division manager Andrew Graham announced Saturday that pitcher Jonathon Crawford is tabbed to start Tuesday’s Midwest League All-Star Game from Fifth-Third Ballpark in Comstock, MI.
The 22-year old right hander from Florida is one of seven Whitecaps players appearing for the Eastern Division in this year’s All-Star game. With a 2.58 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 59.1 innings, he has limited opposing hitters to just a .217 batting average and ranks fifth in the league in ERA. After a rocky Midwest League debut, Crawford has allowed two runs or less in nine of his last 10 outings with a 1.58 ERA over that time.
The Midwest League All-Star game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start Tuesday at the home field of Crawford and the Whitecaps. He will be joined by fellow ‘Caps starting pitchers Austin Kubitza, Buck Farmer, and Chad Green, reliever Joe Mantiply, second baseman Javier Betancourt and outfielder Wynton Bernard.
