Beartooth is a hardcore band formed by Caleb Shomo, the former vocalist of Attack Attack!. It started off as an idea on the side to have a different musical outlet, but soon turned into a full fledged project. The band is currently signed to Red Bull Records, and have only released on EP entitled “Sick” prior to the release of the debut album. Since the release of the bands EP, they have been touring consistently, creating a huge following with only 4 songs being released. It should be noted that Caleb Shomo played, sang, and produced everything for the release.

Now marks another chapter for the band with the release of their debut album “Disgusting.”  One could describe Beartooth as a hardcore band, but the band is quoted as being “hot, nasty, speed,” and this album proves that they really meant that.

Starting off the album with a bang, “The Lines” is a heavy hitter on the album, with Shomo showing his blood curdling screams as he says “We are the sons! We are the daughters! The generation of disorder! ”  The second song of the album is the first single released from the album, “Beaten In Lips.”  Nothing but raw emotion comes out in this song with the lyrical content being about people abusing you and holding you back.

The highlight song on this album is the fourth song on the album, “In Between.” The chorus in the song is absolutely huge, and is surely going to have all the fans singing if performed live.  “I Have A Problem” was initially released on the “Sick” EP, but shows up on the tracklist on this album.  Overall the song is pretty much the same except for a few minor parts that were changed.  The most notable difference in the song is with the drums.

“Disgusting” ends with the haunting and bone chilling song “Sick & Disgusting,” in which Shomo wears his heart on his sleeve.  This song covers self loathing, depression and suicide, with lines like “Sick joke! Sick joke!
That’s all I’ll ever be to anyone,” and also “God I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready to die! God I’m too much of a coward to give you my life!” Vocals on this song are far different from the others on the album, due to the fact that there are lines done in a spoken word/crying manner in which you can truly feel the emotion pouring through the veins of Shomo.

Overall, this album proves itself to be a strong contender in the heavy music world this year. From chest beating drums, filthy guitars, to ear piercing screams, this album is everything you can ask for in a heavy album.  One major thing that Beartooth did really well is that each song is a standout song, with no two songs sounding the same.  If you are a fan of fast, aggressive music, “Disgusting” is an album that will keep the listener interested throughout the whole duration.
