[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter nearly 30 years of circulation as one of alternative music’s go to sources for news, Alternative Press has announced their newest endeavor to celebrate the scene’s past, present and future on one special evening. The inaugural AP Music Awards will take place at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Museum in Cleveland, OH on July 21.
This year’s event will be hosted by Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, who has graced the magazine’s cover six times.
Speaking on his duties as host, Hoppus states, “I’m very pleased with AP’s poor decision to choose me as host of the 2014 AP Awards,” and adds, “I will do my best to make them regret their selection.”

Performances at this year’s AP Music Awards include Fall Out Boy, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The Misfits, A Day to Remember, All Time Low, Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, Asking Alexandria, twenty one pilots and many more performers still to be announced.
Each year the AP Music Awards will honor a musical trailblazer whose work has impacted the landscape of modern music. This year, the Alternative Press Vanguard Award will be received by Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, to serve as recognition for the singer/guitarist’s influence on alternative rock over the last 25 years.
“I’m honored and thrilled to be AP’s first Vanguard Award recipient,” says Corgan, “as the magazine continues to be a standard bearer for all independent music artists.”
The AP Music Awards will broadcast live on AXS TV. Tickets for the event will begin to go on sale tomorrow, April 25, at 10:00am EDT. The AP Music Awards are fueled by Monster Energy Drinks, and also sponsored by Journeys, Fearless Records, Hopeless Records, Sumerian Records, Roadrunner Records, Fueled By Ramen and Victory Records.
