Blues solo artist Walter Trout celebrates his 25th anniversary this year, and to commemorate, Provogue Records will be releasing ten albums from his catalog.
Only 2,000 copies of each 180 g vinyl album will be released individually throughout the year, the first one “No More Fish Jokes,” coming out today. Each album will have 20 minutes on each side, to give the listener a better audio quality for a great listening experience.
“To have some of the best parts of my earlier recordings re-released and celebrated in high-quality audio, is a thrill of the highest order,” Trout said. “I hope my friends and fans will enjoy this commemorative series as much as I will. There is something about re-hearing the music on vinyl – the warmth and the expansiveness of the sound takes me right back to the day it was recorded.”
It is well known among Trout’s fans that he has an extensive catalog and will be just as excited as Trout himself with the release of these albums.
One of Trout’s first major successes was becoming the sideman for Percy Jones, who is known for the legendary songs “Hit The Road Jack” and “Please Send Me Someone to Love.” Two other bands Trout worked with after his time with Percy Jones were Canned Heat, and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
After leaving the Bluesbreakers in 1989, Trout formed the Walter Trout Band which is now celebrating their 25th anniversary. Trout has released well over 20 albums throughout his career, making his mark as one of the greats in the blues genre.
“It’s hard to believe I’m still alive, to be honest,” Trout said in an interview on his website. “I should have been dead by 30, with the life I was leading. But I still have a career, and at 62, I’m still climbing the ladder, which keeps it exciting, instead of trying to rekindle past glories. I feel like I play with more fire than when I was 25. I’m still reaching, y’know…?”
