Around 8 and a-half years ago, some high school friends in Virginia Beach came together to form a little high-energy rock band they called Audiostrobelight.
Having played with bands such as Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and many other acts, they are looking to stand out on their own.
Following signing with Little Heart Records in March of 2013, the band went on to release their first album with the label, What You’re Running From in May 2013 and did extensive touring following that album. Now in 2014 they are doing their 2014 Winter Tour.
During their tour they made a stop at an Ikea off the New Jersey Turnpike on their way to Berlin, NJ for a show and give us a call here at the pit.
Anyone who has listened to Audiostrobelight can tell you that they are a high-energy band. Anyone who has seen them live will tell you that the energy is contagious.
“We call ourselves a high energy rock band… we provide an experience” Adam, who does electric violin and electric mandolin, said. “We’re gonna get in your face and provide you an experience that you are not going to forget.”
Another thing that makes ASL unique is the amazing spread of instruments. Along with the traditional electric guitars, bass, drums and vocals that are a keystone to most successful bands, ASL features the electric violin, electric mandolin and a synthesizer.
Where for most bands this would cause an issue when it comes to writing music, ASL looks at it very differently.
“It really leaves a lot of freedom honestly to be able to write, you know whatever parts you want when you know that there is going to be someone who can play it on some instrument,” said bassist and vocalist Kris.
For anyone who hasn’t listened to ASL there is something to be seen there.
“It’s an experience… to watch it all come together. You don’t see a lot of electric violins or a lot of electric mandolins,” said Adam.
Audiostrobelight consists of members Gabe, Kris, Adam, Scott and Edwin. Listen to the full interview below with Adam and Kris.
Audiostrobelight is currently in the midst of their 2014 Winter Tour. Their newest album What You’re Running From is currently available on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp.
