The Detroit Red Wings announced Monday that right wing Jordin Tootoo is now assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 30 year old will be available for play Thursday when the Griffins visit the Milwaukee Admirals at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Tootoo was drafted in 2001 by the Nashville Predators as the 98th overall selection. He has skated in 538 regular season games over 10 NHL seasons, posting 134 points (49-85—134) and 808 penalty minutes. He was signed to Detroit on July 1, 2012 as a free agent.
He has scored 9 points with the Red Wings in that time, including one assist in his 10 appearances this season.
Tootoo has played with the Griffins on 12 occasions, tallying four points. His last time playing with the AHL prior to joining the Griffins was when he played with the Admirals during the 2005-06 season. He had tallied 49 points (23-26—49) and 399 PIM in 100 games.
