Michigan is heading to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1994 following a thrilling 87-85 overtime victory over No.1 Kansas Thursday night. This was the first overtime game of the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
With 4.2 seconds left in regulation, Trey Burke sunk a three from 40-feet away to tie the game at 76-76 and take things into overtime.
Burke had went scoreless in the first half of the game, going 0-for-4 in the paint and 0-for-3 from behind the arc. He would scored 23 points in the second half and in overtime and also recorded 10 assists. Burke had one three in the five minute overtime period.
Mitch McGary led Michigan with 25 points, shooting 12-of-17 from the paint and 1-of-3 from the line. He had 14 rebounds. Glenn Robinson had 13 points, Nik Stauskas had 11 points and Tim Hardaway, Jr. had 10.
With the victory, Michigan will play the winner of the Florida Gulf Coast-Florida game going on now.
