The Pit recently sat down with Joe Cotela from Ded to discuss being on tour with In This Moment, POD, and New Years Day, their favorite bands, Shiprocked shenanigans, their debut album Misanthrope and much more!

“It’s a diverse lineup. Us and POD kinda match, and In This Moment and New Years Day kinda match in a way, but then we all kinda match together in other ways…. It’s all heavy music and everybody is really cool too. The comradery is rad!” Cotela said when talking about the tour’s lineup.

“You can’t expect, or assume or any of that, that any of this would happen. There’s no way. But we were prepared to do all these things, and we put in a lot of years in other ways, in other bands, and other facets of art and music,” said Cotela when asked about the success and support the band has been receiving since its inception. “We were ready to dive in and be like ‘Yo are you guys the real deal or not?’ and we are.”

There is a certain pair of shorts that Cotela was sporting on Shiprocked and if you were hoping to see him sport them on stage sometime soon, you may be out of luck.

“I was thinking of selling them for charity or something like that. It got such a reaction from people, it’s so funny. They might be in my suitcase right now… they ARE in my suitcase right now still. They’d be fun to maybe wear like the last day of tour, but it’s cool to keep them as just the Shiprocked shorts maybe” said Cotela.

Misanthrope is available for purchase and streaming on all major distributors. Ded can be followed on Twitter for more updates.
