Last weekend Detroit artist Flint Eastwood joined PVRIS for their headlining show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan. As one of the few stops left of the tour, each band gave an energy filled set that captivated the crowd.

Jax Anderson and her accompanying band opened the night as Flint Eastwood. As soon as the first beat of her opening song “Queen” hit, the crowd was up and dancing along with Anderson. Anderson released her EP Broke Royalty this past April.  Her red hat stood out on stage as she whipped her hair around. For an opening act, she brought forth some of the highest energy of the night.

She closed her set with “Rewind”, a song she collaborated on with fellow Detroit electronic artist, GRiZ. Anderson stood at her merch tables immediately following her set. She chatted with fans and created a very intimate experience for them.

Electronic pop artist Lights opened with “Intro (Skin and Earth)”, the intro off her recent album Giants. Her setlist included “Same Sea” and “Portal” from Little Machines. The venue was filled with moody lights along with her melodic voice. Her set ended with “Up We Go”.

PVRIS took the stage, with vocalist Lynn Gunn starting at the piano as the band opened with “Heaven”. This tour was in celebration of the release of their second LP All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell. Other songs from the album that were performed include “Winter” and “Same Soul”.

The strobing white lights and graphic elements on the screen behind the band added to the aestheticthat PVRIS has branded themselves with. The set also included songs from their debut LP White Noise including “St. Patrick”, “My House” and “Holy”. During the set, Gunn wrapped a pride flag around the mic, representing the LGBTQ community.

For their encore of “No Mercy”, Gunn played the second drum set on stage alongside the bands drummer, Brad Griffin. The crowd sang along every word to the song. To end the night, Gunn joined the crowd at the barrier. She sang face to face with fans while sharing the mic.
