The show started promptly at 6:30 with openers, Three Trapped Tigers, an instrumental noise rock band from London. The venue, Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheater is an outdoor venue so by the time Thrice came on at 7:15 the stage was well lit by the golden light of a Florida sunset. First three songs went well and the photographers headed back to set down our gear and wait for Deftones.
I set down my gear inside and when I opened the door to head back outside, it was raining cats and dogs, thanks Florida. I ran to get under the amphitheater covering which didn’t do much help because the rain was coming down sideways. Packed in like sardines in the rows of seats we were all wet but having a good time as Thrice seemed completely unphased by the rain and everyone with lawn tickets got automatically upgraded to seats.
Altogether an exciting show with a great lineup that played through the rain that didn’t stop until midway through Rise Against’s set.
