What’s there to say about the Notre Dame men’s basketball team that isn’t newsworthy these days?

After the Irish (8-0) soundly handled North Carolina A&T (1-7) a 107-53 loss Sunday evening, the Irish have now matched their best start during Mike Brey’s tenure as head coach. Seven different players earned double-digits in scoring in the contest as well. And to cap it all off, both the Irish men’s and women’s hoops squads are undefeated, the only school in the country with that honor.

As has been the case all year, Notre Dame started slow against the Aggies Sunday, not scoring until nearly three minutes into the first half and trailing 4-0. From there, the Irish ran the gauntlet.

Notre Dame was powered by incredibly impressive three-point shooting, going 19-of-35 through the game for a 54.3-percent mark. Matt Ryan led the Irish in this category, going 5-of-7 while Matt Farrell was 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Ryan finished with 17 points while Farrell finished with 15. VJ Beachem led all scorers with 19 points. Steve Vasturia finished with 13 points, TJ Gibbs had 12 while Bonzie Colson and Rex Pflueger finished with 10 each.

Eliel Gonzalez led the Aggies with 18 points.

The Irish will face the 7-2 IPFW Tuesday at home before hitting the road for perhaps the toughest road game of the year Saturday at defending national champions No. 1 Villanova.
