[dropcap]H[/dropcap]eidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey – vocalists for Butcher Babies – told The Pit that they love playing small, intimate venues just as much as the large festivals.

Unlike at large festivals such as Rock On The Range, the smaller venues allow the band to interact more with the fans and get them involved, whether it’s by letting them sing into a microphone or simply by slapping hands. And there’s no venue more intimate than Cheer’s Pub in South Bend, Ind.

Just off the University of Notre Dame campus on the west side, the bar hosts a small stage that has seen hundreds of touring acts headline, including Butcher Babies Wednesday night.

But before the band took the stage, they brought us onto the tour bus to talk their new record Take It Like A Man, touring, influences and even a bit of a sports discussion.
